Frequently asked questions…

Coaching

Who do you coach?
Most of the women I work with, typically in their 20′s & 30′s, are going through what is commonly called a “quarter-life-crisis”. They’re in a space of knowing that they don’t like parts of their life, but they aren’t sure how to go about getting back on track. They’re ready to make a change, to do the work of re-finding who they are again, and start creating a life that reflects their passions and goals.

What is coaching with you like?
I like to think of it as a blend of deep soul opening, practical application of tools/insight, and spontaneous outbursts of pure, joyful laughter. We tell the truth, in all it’s brutal beauty, and we sink into the kind of self-love that only comes from real self-knowing.

Can you tell me more about your coach training?
I went through nine months of study and practice in the Martha Beck Coach Training program. I was taught by Martha, her Master Coaches and my fellow trainees. We were exposed to tools and methods developed by gifted teachers like Byron Katie and Brooke Castillo, in addition to Martha’s own work. I continue to study on my own, adding to my skills and understanding constantly.

Photography

Why don’t you do portraits anymore?
When I left the corporate world, and began working for myself I followed what had been a passion since my childhood. As I met the challenges of that path, new dreams and desires began whispering to me. Coaching, leading online classes, creating inspiring photo-art, and (someday) leading in person retreats & workshops are what currently call to my heart, and feel right to pursue. I never claim to know the future though, so someday I might do them again. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Did you go to school for photography?
I did not go to school for photography. (I was an English major!) I took a 1/2 semester class in high school, but I am otherwise self taught. I learned on film cameras and used to love spending hours in the dark room.

What cameras do you use?
These days I shoot primarily with a Canon 5d (original, old school baby), as well as an Iphone 4, Fuji Instax, Holga, Pentax A3 35mm, and most recently added a Polaroid Spectra & a Polaroid SX-70 Sonar One Step.
